Sekani: OH GOD WHO DID THIS

Yeah, website is kind of a mess at the moment. I installed a new theme (the old one was getting more and more broken with each successive software update) and the customizations that I want to employ are taking more time and effort than I thought. I’ll get back to adding more content as soon […]

Accel World (Anime Series) Review

Watched episode 1 of Accel World, and OMG this series is awesome. From Reki Kawahara, the mind behind 'Sword Art Online' comes an anime much different than 'Sword Art Online'.

It is the year 2046. The neural linker, the ultimate in mobile networking, has become an integral part of modern society. Even still, in such an era there are those who are bullied by their peers.

Haruyuki is one such individual who is constantly bullied. A middle-school student at the bottom of his social ladder. To avoid attention, he spends as much time as possible within the local intranet playing solo squash.

One day, the school's most famous person, Kuroyuki-hime, calls out to him with the cryptic question: "Boy, do you want to accelerate more?" She bestows unto Haruyuki the mysterious program called Brain Burst, and initiates him into "Accel World". For his part, Haruyuki vows to protect Kuroyuki-hime. ("You'll be sure to look after me, right Haru?")

Breakdown:

Acting: 10/10, Animation 11/10 (it's that good. Very on par with Sword Art Online), Story: 10/10 (very solid).

I highly recommend this to anyone who's a fan of Btooom! or Sword Art Online. I thank the community for suggesting this title to me. Love love love it! =^_^=

btw I like Chiyu. She's really cute. I had hoped that Haru was going to get her, but it looks to me like he'll have Kuroyuki-hime as his girlfriend.

Dog & Scissors (Anime Series) Review

So watched episode 1 of "Dog & Scissors." Very sadistic, and funny. I can't remember the name of the lead character or the female counterpart that he lives with in an apartment. He's obsessed with reading books. One day while sitting in a restaurant and reading a book from his favorite author, he realizes he forgot his wallet to pay for his meal. Looking over at the owner he sees a patron in a green jacket with hoodie, rob the restaurant with a shotgun. Sitting behind the lead character in another booth, is a girl with glasses writing frantically on paper.

The robber asks for them both to stand up and only the young man stands. He takes charge and tries to wrestle the gun away from the assailant when he points it at the girl. He ends up getting shot and dying, only to be reincarnated as a dachshund. Crying and yearning to read books, his cries for help are heard from the same woman who was in the restaurant at the time of his death. She takes him home and threatens him with scissors she keeps on her on her in a leather red protective sleeve that she wears on her thigh (similar to a garter belt). The woman is very secretive and mysterious.

From AnimeNewsNetwork.Com:

"The absurd mystery comedy centers around Kazuhito Harumi, a high school boy who is obsessed with reading books. One day, he is killed in the middle of a robbery — and resurrected as a dachshund dog. Unable to read in his new form, the hapless Kazuhito now belongs to Kirihime Natsuno, a sadistic novelist who uses scissors on Kazuhito to abuse him."

Opening Theme:

"Wan Wan Wan Wan N1!!" (わんわんわんわんN1!!) by Inu Musume Club

Ending Theme:

"Lemonade Scandal" (レモネイドスキャンダル) by Yū Serizawa

The acting in accordance with the animation was a 10/10, Audio was 7/10, Animation was a 10/10, Story was a 7/10.

Overall I have to give episode 1 of "Dog & Scissors" a 7/10. I'm sure I'd rate it higher with more episodes, but so far getting into it this is what I rate it for as of now.

  Thanks for the suggestion.

Have any other Anime Series, OVA's, Movies I should check out and see let me know and I'll review.

Shingeki no Kyojin - Attack On Titan (Anime Series) Review.

Just watched Episode 1 of Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack On Titan). I have to say that I'm very impressed with animation style and the voice acting. Not spoiling it for anyone who hasn't watched the series yet, but I was quite disappointed with no origin given as to where the Titans are coming from and why. I'm sure later episodes may disclose this, but for now it's okay, it's not a necessary part of the development for the first episode.

So what's the anime all about? In short without spoiling it for anyone who hasn't seen this anime yet (hopefully yourself), humanity is 2000 years in the future. Living in seclusion behind massive walls, mankind (and womankind too, not being sexist here) live behind massive walls that were built by the towns people 100 years ago. Why behind walls? To keep the Titans out. What are Titans? Massive beings that resemble humans, but so large they span the height of at least 4-5 houses. One in Particular is so large that it can reach the top of the walls that fortify the city (yeah, that's pretty huge). Nobody knows where these Titans come from, or why their causing destruction and (get ready here...) eating humans. It's as if it's a punishment from God (or a multitude of Gods) to punish humanity. If it is, then God (or The Gods) are quite angry, and it shows. The episode introduces us to two main characters. Erin and Mikasa. Erin is a young man about the age of (it didn't really say in the subs) I'd say maybe 13-15 years old. Mikasa is probably just slightly older than him at about 14-17 years old. Their siblings. Erin wants to join the Recon Corps and fight back against the Titans but all the while being able to see life outside the walls. Only problem is, those who venture outside the walls rarely come back alive at all. He has a meal with with parents, only to have Mikasa tattle on him by telling her mother that Erin is interested in joining the Corps. She finds the notion stupid and crazy, but to Erin it's fighting for a cause. I wont go any further from here since some pretty heavy action and drama play on after this scene.

So far my favorite character is Mikasa. In one particular scene she looked like a ninja running behind Erin. Then again you look at this still frame I capped and the villagers who are fighting back in the scene , and they all look like ninjas from Naruto. (Nothing wrong with Naruto, I'm a fan of that series as well)

Audio: 10/10, Voice Acting: 10/10, Story: 9.5/10, Re-Watch Value: 10/10

I give episode 1, a strong 9.5/10. Certainly an anime series to get into if you enjoy Big O, Neon Genesis Evangelion, or even Godzilla.

Have any more Anime titles that are fairly new that I should check out and review, drop me a message. "Love and Peace!" ~ Vash The Stampede.
